Exponential Conference 2009

Today was the first day of the Exponential Conference.  We were excited about see what was in store at this conference.  Before we get to the conference, we started the morning with Chef Andrick making us some breakfast.  It was yummy, potatoes, egg and bacon.  And as true Washingtonians, we drove around trying to find Starbucks.  For some reason, there are a lot of “imitation” Starbucks around here or places that just “serve” Starbucks coffee and so we were determined to find a real Starbucks.

I was looking forward to the first session of the conference because my favorite communicator, Erwin McManus, was speaking.  Erwin McManus is the lead pastor at Mosaic in Los Angeles.  From the opening remarks and prayer, you could see his passion in what he was going to say.  I think I speak on behalf of the team, we were all inspired and challenged this morning after his talk.  It is all about Jesus’ mission!

I attended the Multi-Ethnic track during the breakout sessions.  There were some take-aways but a lot of it was not really relevant to where we are at.  I’ve got to look for another track tomorrow.

Another part of this trip that has been really good is that our team has had great conversations about our lives and what Jesus is doing in us.  It has been really worthwhile.

Tonight we went to P.F. Chang’s for dinner with some of our friends from Seattle (Del and Dan).  These guys are involved with church planting with the Northwest Ministry Network.  We had another round of good conversations and stories.  Good insights and openness.
