Day 2 - Meeting Up With Friends

I was excited to get the day started. After breakfast with my parents, we headed to the church office because my parents needed to get to work. That kind of change my plans since I had kept my week open and had not really told anyone I was here. Now I had a free day to bum around town. I had quickly made a lunch appt with a old high school classmate of mine.

It was quite an adventure because I had to go find her office. And in true tourist form, I got lost. I even went into the wrong office building looking for my friend. It was quite funny. People on the street started help me because I seem so lost. I finally found it and it was great to see my friend, who is 5 months pregnant. We had lunch and caught up on life. It was a fun time.

After lunch, I decided to head towards the shopping areas to see if I could get some shopping done. There are so many mall areas and places to shop here, it is quite insane. I wasn't really prepared for the overwhelming number of people all around. Here's a tiny fact, the population of Singapore is about 4.5 million people on an island just under 700 sq km. BTW, the island could probably fit into Lake Washington. The population of Washington state is 6.3 million, so you do the math. It was quite a sensory overload for me walking around and trying to find my way around. It was a fun time nonetheless.

After window shopping for a while, I decided I would call my dear friend Charlotte and catch up with her. She is a very busy person working for Accenture. I finally got a hold of her and we decided to hook up for dinner when she got off work. She then got a hold of her husband Andrew and my other good friend Roland and his wife Chelle. I was thrilled that everyone was able to hook up tonight.

We finally hooked up at the Lagoon hawker center. It is one of those places with lots of good food but you sweat to eat (because it is outdoors and by the beach no less). Those kids, just loaded us up with food and we ate and ate and we reminised on the good old days and how far we have all come along.

I am so blessed to have wonderful friends. I love them dearly and it was great to see them.

The aftermath...we finished all that food!

Our lovely spread, um..yum!
